International students have been coming to Richmond Adult Community College (RACC) for over 40 years to learn English and taste the English way of life. They join a college with over 2,000 part-time and full-time courses, and meet English people as well as students from all over the world. RACC is an adult further education college whose EFL section is accredited by the British Council and English UK. It is located on a number of sites in the beautiful, historic, riverside London Borough of Richmond upon Thames with main sites at Richmond and Twickenham. The College has Learning and Skills Beacon status,which recognises excellent institutions that deliver high quality teaching and learning. In January 2006 we were rated one of the top colleges in the UK, receiving the highest rating of 'Outstanding' in the Ofsted inspection. Richmond itself is a delightful area with an attractive town centre on the banks of the River Thames. It has many interesting shops, a park, excellent sports and leisure facilities, palaces and historic houses. It is also within easy reach of central London which is only 30 minutes away by tube. RACC provides free access to computers and the Internet in the two main Learning Centres at the Richmond and Twickenham sites, as well as well-stocked libraries and a crèche facility (Richmond site). There are also built-in tutorials on many courses, additional help in numeracy and literacy and an Information, Advice and Guidance service to advise on career opportunities and course information. The newly built Richmond Business School has state of the art teaching facilities with interactive whiteboards, high-spec computers, and a professional learning environment.
