Interactive 2-6 week summer English courses are specially designed for students (age 14-18) with low intermediate to advanced level of English who want an opportunity to practice and improve their English in a interesting and interactive way.

The course offers a unique mixture of lessons, interactive workshops, talks and discussions with professionals (e.g. journalists, actors and scientists) as well as some fascinating trips linked to students’ learning including the Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London, the National Space Centre in Leicester and the BBC Television Centre in Cardiff.

Every week has a different theme. The themes include the Media, Science, Marketing and Business Studies, Music and Performing Arts or History. Full sport and leisure programme is a part of the course.

Students are grouped according to their level of English and are taught in small classes of 10 (maximum of 12 students) offering plenty of personal attention. The majority of our teachers teach for the College full time on the year round programmes. All of our teachers and dedicated and highly experienced and make learning English enjoyable as well as very successful.

Courses are suitable as a preparation for students who wish to study in the UK in the future or for students who are just looking for an interesting summer holiday.

Location
Oxford city (1 hour from London Heathrow – direct connection). A transfer from London Heathrow is included in the price of the course.

Accommodation
Students live in the College’s boarding houses in the attractive area of North Oxford (just minutes from the centre of the city). Older students may have the option to stay in host families. d’Overbroeck’s has two boarding houses; one opposite the College, the other one 10 minutes walking distance from the College.

Students stay in single, double or triple bedrooms with en-suite facilities or a shared bathroom. There is a house-parent permanently living in each boarding house. The house-parents prepare breakfast and supper for students. Lunch is provided at school.

Boarding houses are divided into separate areas for boys and girls; each boarding house has a spacious common area which boys and girls use together, as well as a beautiful garden for BBQs, table tennis, etc. Internet access is available for all students.

Welfare
The care for our students is excellent. Students are well supervised by teachers during the day and by house-parents in the evenings and nights. If students wish to go to Oxford centre during their free time they need to sign out and let us know where they are going and sign in on their return; all students younger than 18 years old must be accompanied by at least one friend. A 24 hour emergency help line is provided.

Trips and Activities
There are two trips per week closely linked to the material that has been studied that week and there is an amazing range of activities on the courses. These may include punting, cricket, ice-skating disco, cinema evenings, concerts, a barbecue, kayaking, talent shows, mini-olympics, swimming, dance classes, etc. Trip destinations include famous cities such as London, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Cardiff, Bath, Brighton, etc.
