WINNER OF THE 2006/07 BEACON AWARD FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SUPPORT! Boston College is a state-supported college on the East coast of England and has been welcoming international students for over 20 years. Approximately 150 international students study with us each year, coming from all parts of the world, including Asia, Africa, Europe, and South America. In 2006/7, our good practice and experience resulted in us winning the Association of Colleges' Beacon Award for International Student Support. We pride ourselves on the care, help and guidance we give to international students. We have excellent teaching staff, with time and patience to help you learn in a stimulating but relaxed atmosphere. We are accredited by the British Council for the quality of our English Language teaching so you can be sure your learning experience will be good. In our last national inspection in 2008 we were judged to be Outstanding in meeting the needs and interests of our students. We offer a range of courses including English as a Foreign Language, International Foundation, A Levels and a range of diplomas in Business, Computing, Leisure and Tourism, Sport, Hairdressing and Beauty, and Hospitality and Catering. Our English courses are flexible and enable you to choose the best time to join us. Not only will you cover all aspects of the English Language but you will also be entered for an IELTS examination (either General Training or Academic) . We will assess your level of English when you arrive at Boston College so you can be sure you will study with students of the same ability. Classes are small - usually 6 - 10 students - so you know you will receive the individual attention you need to help you succeed. Boston College is based on two main campuses with English courses being taught in our state-of-the-art language building convenient for our Hall of Residence on the Rochford Campus. A-Level and International Foundation classes are taught on both Rochford and De Montfort Campuses. Classrooms are modern and well equipped with a number of specialist facilities for photography and video, computer suites, art and music studios and an all weather sports pitch. Both campuses have large Learning Resource Centres, well equipped with computers for student use. The computers are also available for research or assignment work. We also have a Music Centre providing teaching rooms, recording studio and concert hall. A social programme is organised throughout the year and recently involved trips to Manchester, Birmingham, London and Europe. Christmas, end of term and Chinese New Year parties are annual College events. An active Wednesday afternoon sports programme is offered with many sports catered for. Free swimming is available to students daily at the swimming pool next to the Rochford Campus. Sports activities are also available after class.
